Prices are reasonable for a city that is overall rather expensive. The location can become quite crowded in the late mornings in the summer time, so make sure to arrive very early or very late.

    Midnight Dome Viewpoint is the most beautiful location to visit in and around Dawson City. You can drive here from downtown Dawson which takes roughly twenty minutes but there are also hiking trails for more adventurous visitors. The views of the area with Dawson City, Klondike River and Yukon River are absolutely outstanding. There is also a lot of wildlife in the area. I was able to observe a cow moose and a calf on my way to the summit. Make sure to respect and enjoy the wilderness.

    Dredge No. 4 National Historic Site is a wonderful place to visit to learn more about the gold rush on Klondike River. Visits are available in English and French which is fair and perfect. Even if you don't go on a visit, this location is still worth a detour since there are numerous plaques telling you about the history of this area and you can take magnificent photographs of this massive dredge.

    Dempster Highway Sign marks the southern terminus of Dempster Highway that extends all the way to Tuktoyaktuk and the Arctic Ocean. This is a very long, isolated and challenging ride, so make sure to be perfectly prepared and not to travel alone. This area here has a restroom facility, a card locked gas station and a few plaques providing more information about the area. Dawson City is roughly forty-five minutes away from here.

    This viewing platform in downtown Mayo offers wonderful views of the little community in the north and Stewart River in the south. Several plaques provide more information about this area. When I visited this place in the summertime, there were three heavily intoxicated people on the platform who were randomly swearing at people and throwing objects at them. It would be great if local authorities could help avoiding such situations.

There is enough space for about five cars. There are no restroom facilities or hiking trails here. You can however find a few plaques providing more information about the area.     Fiver Finger Rapids are a mandatory stop on Klondike Highway. First and foremost, you have a nice parking lot with some restroom facilities and a decent lookout. Several plaques provide more information about this area. A staircase leads into the valley and towards the Yukon River. After about twenty minutes of hiking, you can observe the magnificent rapids from many different perspectives. Plan at least one hour for the round trip.

    SS Tutshi was once supposed to be steamship that locals and tourists were supposed to be able to visit. However, a fire destroyed large parts of it. These days, you can visit the remains of the wreck. There are some plaques giving you more information about this steamship.     Rancheria Falls in Porcupine Creek are certainly worth a detour. It takes about fifteen minutes to walk from the parking lot to the falls. There are actually two different falls that are equally beautiful. The boardwalk in the area is easy to access. The entire hike isn't difficult at all. There are picnic tables and restroom facilities at the parking lot. Plan for about forty-five minutes to one hour to appreciate this area to its fullest.

    Wye Lake Part is a wonderful hiking spot in Watson Lake. Walking all the way around the lake should take roughly one hour. The trails are well-maintained. Beware of the wild and loud dogs roaming the neighbourhood whose owners seem to be somewhat irresponsible.

    Sign Post Forest is one of the most unique attractions in all of Yukon. Many people who have visited in the past decades and counting have left signs from their hometowns. These have been put together to form gigantic trees, poles and gates. Walking through the forest takes at least half an hour. Perhaps you might even find a sign from your own hometown!

    Tempo Tags Watson Lake is a gas station and convenience store with slightly elevated but still reasonable prices. Staff is friendly and service is quick. The most significant difference is that the highway is well-maintained in British Columbia and gets progressively rougher in the Northwest Territories.     Hay Lake Campground is a small but very idyllic spot for roughly a dozen vehicles. The nearby lake and small buildings look very decent. The nearby hiking trail however needs some serious maintenance. There are many mosquitoes in the summer, so make sure to bring some bug spray if you plan on staying here.

    Blackstone Territorial Park is one of the most amazing parks in the Northwest Territories. It's situated right next to Liard River. You have beautiful forests, stunning meadows and little swamps nearby. There are numerous essential facilities such as restrooms and parking lots but also little highlights such as a playground. This is an ideal location to visit for small families in the summer.

    This location is actually a stop to take a small ferry across Liard River to get to Fort Simpson. It takes about ten minutes to cross the river and there is enough space for roughly a dozen vehicles on the ferry. Fort Simpson is about fifteen minutes away from the western side of the river. The landscapes are very beautiful, so make sure to get out of your car and take some stunning photographs.

This location is isolated and peaceful but the most important resources such as restroom facilities and parking lots are available. Plan for about one hour and a half to two hours to appreciate this wonderful park to its fullest.

    Tibbitt Lake Loop actually doesn't exist. This is simply the end of Ingraham Trail. There are a few rough hiking trails but nothing like a longer section. This is essentially a spot for boating and fishing as well as simply enjoying the beauty of nature. An ice road continues here in the winter.

    The End of Ingraham Trail is situated on the southern shore of Tibbitt Lake. You can go boating, fishing and swimming here. There are a few little trails that are however not maintained and rather rough. There is enough space for numerous cars if you have made it all the way to this point. In the winter, there is an ice road leading further north. It would be amazing to see Ingraham Trail getting extended one day.

It's possible to go boating on or swimming in nearby Long Lake in the summer. The natural landscapes are beautiful but the nearby highway takes away from this idyll.     Snowshoe Inn Cafe and Craft Shop is a quite interesting location. You can buy some local crafts on the left side of the building. There is a small restaurant offering simple fast food for reasonable prices on the right side of the building. Customer service is polite and quick. You should certainly stop here when visiting Fort Providence.

    Dory Point Territorial Park is a tiny park on MacKenzie River. It's situated only two minutes away from MacKenzie Highway. The access road is a little bit rough, so make sure to drive carefully. There is a small parking lot, some restrooms and a little shack. You can walk right next to the river and take some beautiful photographs. It's also an ideal location to observe sunrises and sunsets.

Enterprise almost looks abandoned as several gas stations, hotels and restaurants have closed in the recent past. There are no viewpoints of the nearby Hay River either.     Pyramid Island is one of the most stunning, yet often overlooked sights near Jasper. This spot is roughly a twenty-minute drive away from downtown Jasper. There are several parking spots directly next to the island, as well as a five-minute walk up north or a ten-minute walk down south. The views of the island itself as well as the surrounding lake and the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains are absolutely stunning. Take your time to visit this location, sit on a bench and make sure to take many breathtaking photographs. I would suggest taking at least half an hour to forty-five minutes to appreciate this location to its fullest.

    WickedCup offers a wonderful selection of drinks and foods for breakfast. Prices are reasonable. Staff is friendly. Wait times can be a little bit long during tourist season. Decorations are beautiful. Chairs are comfortable and tables offer enough space for everything. Restroom facilities are small but usually clean. I would certainly recommend this place for having breakfast in Jasper.

Taking a swim in one of the lakes is another highly recommended activity. There are quite a few parking spots available, even in the summer time.     Banff Gondola Upper Terminal has quite a few things to offer. It's obviously a modern station of Banff Gondola. There are clean and spacious restrooms. You can find several restaurants here as well. There is a shop for souvenirs, food and drinks. There are also several viewing platforms. You also have access to two pathways, one letting you discover the nearby terrain in about forty-five minutes and another one leading back to the valley in roughly ninety minutes.

    Sulphur Mountain Trail is a quite steep serpentine trail. My suggestion would be to take a ride on Banff Gondola up the mountain and walk down by using this trail. Walking the entire trail this way takes more or less ninety minutes if you are in great shape.     Even though I'm afraid of heights, I simply had to take Banff Gondola. It's great to be able to sit alone in the small cabin. The ride is quick and smooth. The views are magnificent as well. Prices are quite steep. There should be the opportunity to pay only for a one-way ticket all the way up the mountain, since there is a beautiful trail leading back down again.

The trail is at times steep but this shouldn't be an issue for visitors who are in good physical shape. Taking the trail might take between ninety minutes to two hours, depending of how many stops you want to make. I would suggest making quite a few to enjoy the beauty of nature and take numerous stunning photographs.

    Black Anchor is a tiny restaurant right next to Lake Minnewanka. Staff is friendly but it can take some time to get your food when there are a lot of tourists around. The drinks and food that are offered here are decent but nothing extraordinary. Prices are slightly elevated but still reasonable for such a popular tourist attraction.     Heritage Park is a gigantic outdoor museum that brings back to life the era of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Actresses and actors play farmers, teachers, train conductors and many other roles in historically inspired buildings. Highlights in Heritage Park are the train rides as well as the boat tour on the reservoir. Visiting the entire park takes about six hours but you certainly won't get bored and might even get inspired to visit this wonderful location again.

You can hike around the lake all day long or only do a part of it and return downtown via public transit or with your own vehicle. The views of nature are absolutely stunning. While several pathways further up north and closer to downtown can be quite crowded in the summertime, this section here is more isolated and relaxing.     Fort Calgary offers a few exhibits detailing the interesting past of this city and location. However, the museum could be a little bit bigger and offer more activities. As it is now, visiting the museum is rather quick and uninspired.

    Saint Patrick's Island Park is an excellent location for a stroll through nature if you are staying in downtown Calgary. Despite some construction here and there, most of the biking and hiking trails are accessible. This is a great spot for a relaxing moment in a busy environment.

    Sien Lok Park is a beautiful little park honouring Calgary's Asian communities. You can find several stunning sculptures here. When I visited this park, it was partially under construction and not entirely accessible. Said construction work made the park look rather chaotic and dirty. I'm sure things will be looking better again once the construction work will have been completed.

    The Wave is a monument close to Louise Bridge where people tend to go surfing from spring to autumn. The location is close to downtown but nevertheless in a beautiful natural environment. The monument itself however isn't particularly spectacular to look at.

    Holiday Inn Express & Suites Calgary is perfectly situated close to the city's most important downtown locations while also being in a relatively calm and relaxing area. The rooms are big, clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning is very good. Staff is friendly, helpful and professional. Early check-ins are usually not possible.

    Best Western Plus Suites Downtown is a clean, modern and spacious hotel with big and comfortable rooms. The breakfast in the morning is excellent to start the day on a positive note. Staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel's only disadvantage is that it's further away from Calgary's important downtown locations than most other hotels.

    Calgary International Airport offers a clean environment with numerous information stands, restaurants, restroom facilities, shops and waiting areas. There are also different works of art to be found such as paintings and sculptures. This airport's biggest disadvantage is that it's really big and takes a lot of time to get from one place to another. Make sure to arrive well in advance when taking a flight.
