Dear readers,
I have visited quite a few old and new locations with family members and friends throughout the summer of 2022. Here are some brand-new reviews that I have been submitting onto Google Maps that will give you a better idea of where I come from. Enjoy!

Busbahnhof Leverkusen-Opladen has only recently been created and still looks rather clean and modern. The location is spacious but lacking plans, maps and instructions for new visitors. Crossing the streets can be quite dangerous at times with the numerous buses that are arriving and departing. There are some dirty and old restrooms nearby but the next newsstands and restaurants are a few minutes away.

Leverkusen Opladen Bahnhof is the new railway station that is still going through slow changes and modifications. The architecture might look stunning from afar but getting near the railroad tracks is quite complicated with usually broken elevators and escalators. There is also much vandalism in the area. Parts of the train station aren't covered by roofs as commuters are exposed to the elements. In addition to this, trains are often coming late or even being canceled these days. The location is missing restrooms, restaurants and newsstands. To keep it short, this location is only just acceptable and still leaves much room for improvement.

Busbahnhof Wermelskirchen looks clean and modern as it includes nearby restrooms and newsstands. Buses connect to nearby Remscheid and Hilgen but also go as far as downtown Leverkusen which makes for easy and quick connections and transitions. Instructions, maps and plans could however be more detailed and precise for visitors.

Wiel Park is a tiny park in Wermelskirchen that honours a former mayor. This location is calm and relaxing but it could need some more maintenance and creativity.

Waffelpause is a nice little spot along biking and hiking trail Balkantrasse. You can find several banks and tables that invite to prepare picnics with family members and friends. There is a little cabin whose staff occasionally offers something to drink and to eat. The location is calm, natural and relaxing and certainly a hidden gem along the trail.

This little viewpoint on the biking and hiking trail Balkantrasse in Nagelsbaum is worth a little break and a few photographs to enjoy the typical regional landscapes consisting of lawns, forests and farms.

Romberger Wasserturm is an old water tower hidden by more recent buildings and tall trees. The building looks quite intriguing and certainly deserves some attention and maintenance.

Pattscheider Bahnhof is a former railway station that hasn't been welcoming any trains for three decades and counting. However, the building has recently been renovated and the new biking and hiking trail Balkantrasse passes by the former railway station. Several plaques offer interesting information about this area. This location is certainly worth a stop and a few photographs.

This little viewpoint along Balkantrasse offers a wonderful sight of farms, forests and lawns in Bergisch Neukirchen. It's worth a little break to take a few photographs and enjoy the magnificent natural landscapes that are quite typical for this region.

NaturGut Ophoven is a wonderful location with multiple natural environments, hiking trails and little playgrounds for children. It's an ideal spot for small families and to meet friends. Access is usually free but there are at times exhibits and other cultural activities that might request minor fees.

REMISE is a wonderful little restaurant and café right next to Castle Dyck. The cakes my family and I have tasted there were excellent. Prices were overall reasonable. Staff was helpful and charming. Restrooms are large and clean. Several items on the menu are currently unavailable due to the chaos our world has been plunged into during the past two and a half years.

Torbrücke im Schlosspark is one of the main sights around Castle Dyck. It offers wonderful views and invites to take magnificent photographs. The entire area is kept in excellent shape by the busy staff.

Dyck Castle is an astonishingly beautiful water castle that is being kept in excellent shape. The gardens and parks around the castle are beautiful and invite for long relaxing walks. You can observe numerous animals such as turtles and geese. Beware of hornets and wasps. The access fee is currently ten bucks per adult.

King's Head Pub is your typical Irish pub that you can find in almost every German city nowadays. The location is a little bit small but features charming decorations. The menu and its prices aren't quite up to date. Several drinks that are mentioned can't be found anymore, however there are quite a few new drinks you might discover if you ask staff members. The selection of whiskeys is particularly great.

Quite a few things can be found at Alte Papierfabrik in Wuppertal. The location is only a ten-minute walk away from the next Schwebebahn station. The building's architecture has been kept in excellent shape. The bowling alley however is quite bumpy. Staff at this location is quite friendly but also quite slow. Overall, this location shows much promise but needs some improvements.

The entire area on the north front of Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof has recently been renewed and looks absolutely splendid. Some parts along the railroad tracks however still need maintenance and renewal.

Eiscafé Minini offers delicious ice creams and coffees. The shady area is a welcome spot to relax at in the summer. Since this location is a little further away from downtown, the entire environment is enjoyably calm.

Panorama-Radweg Balkantrasse has finally been completed and now connects the towns of Opladen and Remscheid. The entire trail has a length of forty-one kilometers. There are numerous plaques along the way that inform you about the past railroad tracks and its stations and sights. It's a wonderful trail that is worth being visited over and over again.

Himmelsleiter is a gigantic staircase that connects a little suburb with several biking and hiking trails along the river Wupper in Opladen. The view from the top is quite beautiful and worth a detour.

Wupperwiese is a big lawn by the river Wupper in Opladen that offers much space for picnics and little parties. There are several beautiful biking and hiking trails nearby. It takes roughly twenty minutes to walk from here to downtown Opladen.

Wupperbrücke is the location where the railway crosses the river between Leichlingen and Opladen. The old bridge has stood the test of time and its architecture looks quite unique. There are numerous beautiful hiking and biking trails nearby.

Festplaty Engelbertstraße is the location where the annual fair takes place. This is a great location to get something to drink and to eat as well as to meet friends and party. On regular days, this location is an old-fashioned soccer field that is quite popular among local teenagers.

Ringlokschuppen Mülheim welcomes numerous cultural events throughout the year. The building's architecture is beautiful and unique. The little restaurant on the north side is quite charming. Restrooms are easily available and clean. The surrounding park invites to relax and take a break from the big city life.

Park am Schloss Broich offers several small trails through colourful landscapes that offer a welcome break from the big city life.

Kinder- und Wasserspielplatz Darlington Park offers much space for families. Kids will be enjoying playing here while adults will find banks and lawns to keep an eye on their children from afar.

Darlington Park is a wonderful area right next to Schloss Broich. There are several banks to sit down and relax. You can also find several playgrounds in the area. The lawn offers much space for picnics. You can also regularly find people playing soccer in the park. It's an amazing spot for families.

Parkplatz Stadthalle, Schloss Broich offers enough space for several hundreds of cars for visitors of cultural events such as nearby Castle Rock Festival. Parking fees are reasonable but make sure to read all the instructions upon arrival.
