• Transsiberian (2008)

To really appreciate this movie, you should like Russia, the legendary Transsiberian train, Russian culture and history and the Nordic landscapes which create a quite charming and historical atmosphere. That's what it's all about, because the story is surely a quite interesting and even twisted one with some very solid actors and a mysterious storyline, but nothing really special or profound.

But all in all, it is a beautiful movie to watch and combines twisted suspense elements with an interesting and authentic Russian flow and atmosphere. Russian culture meets a solid thriller and creates an entertaining and open-minded movie which I really liked to watch a few times.

  • Whiteout (2009)

Even if this film has received a lot of bad or ordinary reviews, I may convince you to give it a chance.

First of all, the whole interesting suspense story takes place in a very exotic and unusual place which creates an atmosphere of frosty isolation. The shootings of the landscapes offer something special for the eye.

Second, the introduction is very well done and its relation to the later content of the movie is an interesting idea.

Third, the suspense and fight scenes in the movie are very special and exploit the arctic atmosphere in a senseful way.

Fourth, the actors are doing a quite well job, especially Kate Beckinsale who is fighting some demons of her past.

Of course, there are also some negative aspects about this film: First, I personally think that the ending is quite predictable.

Second, the first aspects provokes that there is somehow a lack of suspense and the "who's done it"-fever.

But that's already all that is negative about it. It's nothing innovating about the story and ending of the film but it is really entertaining and has a unique atmosphere and some nice elements. I'm hoping for some more movies in the key of this one for the future!

  • Fight Club (1999)

Yes, this one is are very good and entertaining movie with an interesting twist, not the best one in film history as some people say but still a quite good one, and a good acting of the two brilliant main characters without any doubt.

What I dislike about the film is its slow paced introduction which I found somehow long and boring, the idea of the fight club and its intentions itself and that the whole thing seems logic to its members, the somehow exaggerated end and the fact that you don't get to know what the whole sense or intention of the terroristic organisation has to mean or not to mean in the end.

All in all, this one of the movies you should have watched once in your life and which you should know to make yourself an opinion. This one is very popular and many friends from different countries are quite often talking about this movie so you should watch it to be able to discuss about it. I'm one of the rare people who don't give 9 or 10 points because I know weirder non mainstream movies with better twist, but from the popular ones of the genres, this one may be the most interesting movie and become somehow a kind of drug you get addicted to which may introduce you to other movies of the genre, for example the movies of David Lynch or Shyamalan or the real underground stuff.
