A Farewell to Google Maps

Dear readers,

Even though I'm truly proud of all the dedication, effort and inspiration that I have put into Google Maps throughout the past six years, I have now decided to delete all my photographs and reviews on said application and website. This procedure will likely take several days before being entirely completed. I will however keep the reviews, photographs and modifications I have made between 2017 and 2023 on my personal blog. This way, both you and I will be able to remember what I have been creating during these years of my life and nothing will be disappearing forever.

You might now wonder what has inspired me to close this chapter today. There are several reasons that I would like to point out briefly:

1. There have always been technical issues with loading all my reviews and photographs on Google Maps.

2. Several reviews were at times completely out of chronological order.

3. Many locations that I have reviewed have suddenly disappeared, leading either to my reviews being mislabeled or disappearing entirely.

4. Several of my more recent reviews have suddenly become unaccessible publicly for unknown reasons.

5. A few of my reviews have become unpublished, some of them being several years old already, for reasons that have not been elaborated upon.

Instead of putting my work into an application and website that seems to be decreasing in quality as time is going by, I have now decided to put my valuable efforts elsewhere. You will be able to find new photographs and reviews of interesting places I will be visiting in the future on my personal blog. If you have any recommendation for a similar website to Google Maps where I could publish reviews and post photographs, I would be more than welcome to check it out, so don't hesitate to leave a message if you like. The time has come to try out something new.
