Artcell is a rather unkown progressive metal band from Bangladesh that has been around for far over one decade by now. Even though they might never get an international breakthrough, the band mostly skips annoying solo passages and concentrates on diversified...
*** This review may contain spoilers *** This movie is one of my favourite horror movies. The movie is short and sweet. It has an intense atmosphere. The actors are all doing an amazingly outstanding job, especially the great Ray Wise. There are many...
Zhang Yimou's Coming Home is a thought-provoking, slow-paced and emotionally moving drama that tells the tragic story of a family torn apart by the Cultural Revolution. The movie is surprisingly critical of China's past, takes its time to introduce the...
I happen to like some dark ambient stuff in the key of the gothic orientated bands such as Rosa Crux or Die Verbannten Kinder Evas but what Elend offers on their first studio output is unwillingly ridiculous. The band name is German and means misery....
I know that this movie has some similarities to the "Die Hard" and "Speed" classics, but that's the only negative point that I can find about this movie. Let's talk about the great things now. The movie shows us an interesting but not overlong introduction...
With the seventh entry in the franchise, entitled Ebirah, Horror of the Deep, the Godzilla movie series definitely enters adventure film territory. The beloved lizard also moves away from being considered a dangerous antagonist and becomes an earthly...
Omertà is inspired by a legendary French Canadian series of the same name and lives some sort of revival this summer with a quite well done feature for the cinemas. The movie convinces with gripping characters that are portrayed by some of Quebec's best...
If you take a look on the promising line-up of this failed supergroup project featuring a multitude of iconic stars of the then decreasing New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, one might think that there's a lot of individual class and potential behind this....
If you liked the first part of The Expandables franchise, you will also appreciate this follow-up but if you didn't like the first part, the chances are elevated that you won't adore the second strike, too. The story of the new movie is pretty much comparable...
What the hell did I just witness? Ebonylake is an avant-garde gothic metal band from United Kingdom that mixes many styles in their unique music. We can hear bist and pieces of Black Metal, Death Metal, Doom Metal, Progressive Metal and Symphonic Metal...
Once I came home from a party with some friends and just wanted to relax and watch the television before I would go to bed. I switched from one channel to the other and found this movie. Although I had missed the first fifteen minutes of the film and...
I remember that I have seen this mini-series on an autumn night because there was nothing else on the television. They showed the whole three parts of this mini-series in one single movie. I didn't expect much from this film and I began really slow paced...
You don't need to have seen the first movie of this hilarious comedy flicks that comes from Hong Kong, China. This movie is definitely quite entertaining, unique and over the top in many senses. The story is not really important in here. The viewer simply...
This is probably one of the most intense and interesting German movies of the last years. It has everything that a good movie needs: Credible characters and actors, dramatic sequences, a lot of action and tension, a philosophical touch, elements touching...
Experimental Armenian-American alternative metal quartet System of a Down hasn't released any new music for fifteen years due to internal disputes and numerous side projects. The current Nagorno-Karabakh war which is essentially a conflict between Azerbaijan...
One friend of mine, who was normally likes movies that I like, absolutely wanted to show me this movie and said that it would be a funny and very gore horror movie that wouldn't not take itself serious at all. My friend had presented me "Shaun of the...
"Non-Stop" is a solid action-thriller with the extraordinary lead actor Liam Neeson. I watched this movie because of him and even though he doesn't beat his best performances, Liam Neeson is absolutely convincing as cold-hearted human wreck and sorrow-ridden...
I watched this movie when I was on an Air Canada flight this summer and though it was warm and the atmosphere in the air plane wasn't the best, I got totally absorbed by this movie. It is a really intense horror drama without anything supernatural, without...
As a big fan of the Bourne franchise, I was expecting this movie with mixed feelings. I was afraid this movie would only be a rehash of the solid trilogy and give us more of the same but on a lower level than usual. On the other side, I was looking forward...
This movie is easily the best French film that has come out in the last years. It is an excellent comedy with the two great actors Dany Boon and Kad Merad but the movie has also its philosophical, dramatical and sad parts. This movie is extremely funny,...
I know that one shouldn't take this kind of movies too serious and the main public of this kind of films might still be twelve year old boys and girls that are excited to see a movie with many sexual allusions, exaggerated gore scenes and absurd slapstick...
As a big fan of current Korean cinema and even more of the amazing actor Choi Min Sik as well as of Mafia and Yakuza movies in general, I was really looking forward to watch this movie. But in the end it all came very different... The only positive thing...
Highway is a traditional heavy metal band from Bogota in Columbia that stands out for two facts. First of all, all lyrics are sung in Spanish which makes this release an exotic gem for people of the Northern hemisphere. Second, we talk about an all women...
As a matter of fact, Chernobyl Diaries is another rather generic horror movie with only a few truly shocking scenes and a quite predictable ending. The only thing that makes this release a little bit more special than other horror movies of the same kind...
This is the second part of my little review series: Movies that are way better than you expect. "Steel trap" seems at first sight to be another ordinary psychological thriller or slasher movie in the shadows of the great "The cube", "Mind Hunters" and...
