Anthem is a Japanese heavy metal band that kicked off its career with this self-titled release back in 1985. The guys from Tokyo play traditional heavy metal with a lot of passion but fail to write really addicting, gripping and outstanding songs on their...
I seriously don't really understand the high amount of positive critics concerning this movie. I bought this flick because I heard that the makers of the highly entertaining zombie parody "Dead Snow" were included in this project. This film though doesn't...
This movie is a true piece of Quebec's culture and is based on a very well known and admired television series. This movie has been awaited by many fans and has been popular enough to do a second movie a few years later. This movie is comparable to Mel...
Katatonia is one of those bands I’ve often stumbled over in diverse reviews, in interviews or in many talks with other Metal fans around the whole wide world but for no truly valid reason I’ve never managed to give them a try until now. The band is though...
Sou Jiu, internationally known as Come Back Home or Polar Rescue, is an intense family drama from the People's Republic of China. It shows legendary martial artist Donnie Yen in a completely new role as this film doesn't feature any fight sequences at...
Nuclear Power Trio obviously initially grabbed my intention with the humorous artwork for its debut extended play A Clear and Present Rager. The song titles also looked quite amusing to say the least. Since I found the record in the metal section, I expected...
"Hell" is actually a play on words as it has not only its special meaning in English but also a meaning in German language where it can be translated with "bright". This film indeed shows us a dystopian planet Earth where a few survivors are in desperate...

The young Canadian band Mongol delivers us a quite mixed bag on their debut release “The Altan Urug”. First of all, we have many amazing folk elements in the songs. The banjo play for example is very well employed in a couple of songs and not an instrument...
Thirty-two years after their foundation, the Japanese Heavy Metal legend Loudness still rocks loud and proud on this twenty-sixth studio album. The band still manages to sound fresh and hungry and some tracks are even heavier than what they have done...

Concert review: Over Kill, Prong & A Darker Day live at Mavericks, Ottawa (25/09/14) It was a beautiful sunny autumn day on Thursday, September 25, 2014 when I decided once again to see an energizing show in the small metal pub Mavericks in downtown Ottawa....

I bought this film at a cheap price at a drugstore because I found the story intriguing enough. I haven't heard about the movie or the book before and didn't even know the main actor Yvan Attal. Now, I will never forget him or this movie because I found...

This extended play's title track is the song that made me appreciate In Flames back when I was eighteen years old. I have since attended two concerts of the band and purchased all its studio albums. In my humble opinion, ''The Mirror's Truth'' represents...

Holy Dragons is a power metal band from Almaty, Kazakhstan that is a lot better than its cheesy band name might suggest you at first sight. The band plays in fact power metal with grounded vocals and guts. They skip all unnecessary stuff such as narrations...
