Can you disscciate an artist from his art? This is a very difficult question. It's up to each individual to answer it. Jari Mäenpää is at constant war with his label, tries to lure fans into spending an exaggerated amount of money to support his megalomaniac...

Atomic Blonde is a stylish action-thriller set in the final weeks of the Cold War in the quirky town of Berlin. The movie has its flaws in the first third but gets progressively better and really grabs the viewer's attention by the end. Those who liked...
I discovered this exotic band from Tunisia with a song from their second album last year on a sampler included in the normally pretty weak British Metal Hammer magazine but I forgot to check them out. With the release of their new third record, I remembered...
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets isn't only the best novel of the franchise but also the best movie along with the first entry Harry Potter and the Philospher's Stone. The story revolves around a mysterious dangerous presence at Hogwarts that paralyzes...
Unbeing are a quite unknown completely instrumental progressive metal band from Montreal. I discovered their debut record by pure coincidence. It was sold by a lable during a black metal show. Let's note that this music has nothing at all to do with extreme...

Mono Inc. is a German gothic rock band that is more successful than ever in its twentieth year of existence. Its career reminds a little bit of Unheilig, a band that emerged from the Gothic underground scene and achieved massive commercial success which...
Menteur, internationally known as Compulsuve Liar, is a highly entertaining comedy movie featuring many famous actors and comedians from Quebec. The story revolves around compulsive liar Simon whose lies become reality one day and teach him that facing...
It's been a while since I have tried out a Freedom Call record and I am by no means a big fan of overtly joyous power metal with simple melodies and repetitive positive lyrics. However, this particular style that was quite popular when the band was founded...
Dear readers of my blog! On the eighth day of my epic summer vacation, I only traveled a rather short distance from Prince Albert to Saskatoon. However, there were many stunning things to be visited, to be seen and to be experienced which only increased...
Ladies and gentlemen! Two and a half years ago, Amorphis was scheduled to play in Ottawa along with Swallow the Sun but the concert had to be canceled due to a winter storm. It was quite a bummer since the band had just released the extraordinary record...
Schandmaul are a really energizing live band and have some really talented musicians in their rows. Their lyrics are mostly interesting and talk about old German folk tales, “Märchen” or historical events and sometimes invented stories by the band of...
Usually, greatest hits albums are quite unnecessary for fans of the band but that isn't the case with this compilation album. First of all, the band re-recorded some of their old classics that had a really awful quality back in the day. "Hiemali tempore"...
Suspiria isn't only a remake of Dario Argento's movie but an expanded reimagination of the legendary Italian horror movie. The film is set in Berlin during the German Autumn and follows the story lines of a young American dancer who arrives at a dance...
Howdy and yeehaw! I decided to spend the sixteenth day of my epic summer trip in Calgary and visit the famous Calgary Stampede which bills itself as ''The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth''. It was almost a culture shock to visit Calgary as I got the impression...
Ladies and gentlemen, On the twenty-fourth day of my epic summer vacation, I spent one last complete day in Winnipeg. I went shopping at St. Vital Centre, hiked along Seine River, visited parts of the Royal Canadian Mint and explored some parts of downtown...
Ladies and gentlemen! After four delays, Ottawa's new Confederation Line finally opened on September 14th 2019. Last night, I had the opportunity to take the train twice when I went to the NHL game between the St. Louis Blues and the Ottawa Senators....
“A pale horse named death” is a band with a very cool name and a great album cover that plays first of all a melancholic mixture of gothic and doom metal in the key of “Type 0 Negative”. Even though the influence of this band is omnipresent and weighs...
Adverus is a band that doesn't sound like anything else. Their sound is very intellectual, diversified and sometimes almost schizophrenic. The band is mostly influenced by the Gothic genre with its dark and emotional lyrics, its harmonic male vocals,...
It's time to honour some great bands from the country where I am living right now, the beautiful maple leaf giant Canada and I want to start the discovery with this rather unknown heavy metal act from the early eighties. The music of "Breaker" is heavily...
Nine Inch Nails' third Ghosts record consisting yet again of nine tracks varying between one minute and a half and four minutes in length is different from the first two parts in this unusual series. The first part was unconventionally experimental while...
Metallica’s black album lacks so much originality that it isn’t even worth a proper name. The band kept only the worst parts of the great predecessor “…And Justice for All”, namely a very clinical production and the groove metal influences. Instead of...
