A friend of mine and I recently found this album and tried to give it a try as we both like European or more specifically Finnish power metal in the key of Stratovarius. I really have listened to many power metal band sin my life, but what Epiclore created...
After a much diversified first Medieval Rock album, In Extremo found their very own style on this follow-up. They play solid hard rock music with folklore influences from around the world inspired by old cultural tales and their own stories and ideas....
After a rather modern album with "Sünder ohne Zügel", In Extremo made a step back. They sound still somehow modern, but they didn't include any electronically samples or experiments on this album. But they only partly orientated back towards "Verehrt...
This single has been a very good appetizer for the upcoming album. It includes the very straight single "Nur ihr allein", a homage to the fans. This song is rather based on the band member's punk roots and only the much diversified folk interlude in the...
Usually, greatest hits albums are quite unnecessary for fans of the band but that isn't the case with this compilation album. First of all, the band re-recorded some of their old classics that had a really awful quality back in the day. "Hiemali tempore"...
This CD wasn't actually planned by the band and has been created after the band had been invited to play an acoustic concert at a local radio station in front of a couple of fans. The band liked the experience so much that they decided to make an album...
If I had to describe this album with only two words, I would call it "Plastic Goth". I really liked the some of the earlier Gothic Rock songs the band made and even the more commercial "Karmacode" had still some experiments and original moments. "Shallow...
There it is, another female fronted Symphonic Metal band from the Netherlands that got hyped in the usual magazines around the world. But I wanted to give it a try. Now, what does this band produce to get a well deserved attention, to be different from...
Many people describe this album as the Russian "Powerslave" and this is partly true because this album is the Russian masterpiece of true traditional heavy metal and contains some of the most important and memorable songs of Russian metal history such...
This single is way more interesting than the "Frei zu sein" single. This single has a few more songs than the last one. The most interesting ones, a part of the very harmonic, happy and traditional title track that is a surprisingly good choice as a second...
Tsui Hark usually happens to be a solid venue when it comes to direct artistic, epic and philosophic Chinese movies as he proved in unforgettable classics such as "A Chinese Ghost Story" or "Once Upon A Time In China" to only name the most famous movie...
I don't know what is wrong with me but I don't understand or share the hype about this album. I really liked the very diversified first strike "When dream and day unite" and the magic moments on the progressive rock revival masterpiece "Images and words"...
After a very smooth and calm record called "Octavarium" Dream Theater tried out something new again on this new record. They were looking for a more technical approach, sounded very modern and also diversified on this album and concetrated more on a heavier...
Only one year after their first official disc, the band came up with a new record. Basically, nothing has changed: Stephanie Luzie sounds as good as on the last record, the topics about nature and environment are the key eleents of this record and the...
I would like to be clear from the beginning on. I always had one single problem to get an approach to Nightwish and this problem was called Tarja Turunen. From an objective point of view, I am able to admit that she has without a doubt a very powerful...
As I really like to discover and listen to exotical metal bands, I decided to spend some money on this difficult to find package of the Spanish heavy metal legends "Tierra Santa". This box set is value for money with two entirely filled discs and a bonus...
Kung Fu Hustle is one of many high rated modern Chinese movies where I don't understand how comes it's so well received and critically acclaimed in the whole wide world. I must admit that the movie kicks off with a couple of solid jokes and some sympathetic...

This first official studio album by Dream theater and the only one featuring the singer Charlie Dominici is a very strong, soft and dreamy progressive rock record in the key of "Rush". There are even some very sligthly disco pop influences in a couple...
Dream Theater's label destroyed their plans and made out of a promising record a mostly cheesy and commercial trash called "Falling into infinity". Now, with a new label and a new record the band put a lot of ideas they had for the last record and had...
After three years of silence "The Dogma" are back with a new album and this one is more diversified than anything these guys have ever done and shows us that they do not only perform dark Symphonic Metal or traditional Power Metal but also excellent hard...
This song is not as ordinary and commercial as the first single "Where is the edge" has been, but it comes quite close. The modern sound effects and keyboard influences try to create something new and I must give this point to the effort of the band....
Here comes a dark comedy movie from People's Republic of China with a not truly original story but some great images and a solid acting. After the death of a coworker, his colleague and friend wants to fulfil his mate's last wish and bring his cadaver...
This album could have been a masterpiece of progressive music as I listened to the original version of the epic "You or me" that was reduced to a short single by the label with the help of Desmond Child. The album was intended as a double album including...
That's what I call a very unusual single. After six years of silence the very interesting Finnish band "Hevein" comes back with a single song of a length of almost ten minutes that honours the first Australians and their country. Alongside with the song...
