As a big Edguy fan, I was really happy when I found this EP in a record store in New York City three and a half years ago and immediately bought it as I liked the cheesy, but very catchy and positive title track. I hoped that the other four non album...
Schandmaul are a really energizing live band and have some really talented musicians in their rows. Their lyrics are mostly interesting and talk about old German folk tales, “Märchen” or historical events and sometimes invented stories by the band of...
This is In Extremo's first official album. At that time, two "In Extremo" bands with an identic line-up existed, the first one played instrumental folk songs and the other one was in development to mix hard rock to the traditional folk music. Later, on...
After the band had found its very own style on the last studio record, in Extremo tried to add something new and modern to their sound on this album. Many songs are harder and go into the Neue Deutsche Härte or Industrial Metal direction without being...
Sold out? Atrocious? Rammstein? I am really not sure if some of the other reviewers have listened to the same album as I have because I think that "Mein rasend Herz" is the band's best album and I have got all of their albums at home and am a really big...
The first song already shows the new direction of the band. Just like their colleagues from "Subway to Sally", they deliver a much straighter and darker album than the last ones and go away from their charming folk roots that made them so special. Don't...
This second single of the "7" album presents us the single, one exclusive song and the very well done video clip of the hit single "Küss mich" and is a nice gimmick for the collectors and true fans but not for someone else. "Erdbeermund" is a very epic...
"Liam" has been chosen as a third single from the masterpiece "Mein rasend Herz" because the band represented the land Thuringia with this song during the German television event Bundesvision Song Contest. They played a mixture of the German and the original...
As I liked really much the last studio album "Mein rasend Herz" I went to the tour to see the band live in Cologne. This has been my first big concert of a major band ever back in september 2005. I was completely blown away by the energy of the band and...
This first single of the new album "Saengerkrieg" is a rather calm and melodic folk rock song with a catchy chorus. The album version and the shortened and unnecessary single version are included on this single. What I am missing in this song is the straightness...
Only three years after their last live record and one year after the critically acclaimed "Saengerkrieg" album, In Extremo decided to release another live package, this time from their last studio album tour that has been recorded in Cologne in December...
I lately discovered this female fronted Symphonic Metal band from Belgium because I read about it in a forum. The main difference between this group and the average Nightwish or Within Temptation clone is that singer Ann van Rooy has a lot of power in...
As I really appreciated the very popular singles by Within Temptation like the inspiring and dreamy "Mother Earth" and the catchy and magic "Ice queen", I decided to buy the entire album. I realized that this album was a rather calm album with a couple...
"Monument of Metal - The Very Best of Anvil'' has only one single purpose: introducing the band to those who haven't known them before and those who have only occasionally listened to them. This compilation is a good way to get introduced to the band...
After many internal problems and line-up changes, Saltatio Mortis came back with this record and broke free, forgetting about the hopeless past and complications. This album sounds more positive than the last one, they go back to their roots and concentrate...
As a matter of fact, Chernobyl Diaries is another rather generic horror movie with only a few truly shocking scenes and a quite predictable ending. The only thing that makes this release a little bit more special than other horror movies of the same kind...
This is In Extremo's second live release and first live release of their Medieval Rock material and I was really looking forward to purchase this album as I've known the band as a really good live band. But the performance and especially the fans during...
This is probably the band's best single and includes four beautiful killer songs. The single "Horizont" is a rather unusual song for In Extremo. Hard guitars and a harp play along in the introduction before singer Michael Robert Rhein and guest singer...
This was the first album by In Extremo that hit the first place of the German Media Control Album Charts and was the final mainstream breakthrough for the band after their well acclaimed performance at the Bundesvision Song Contest. But this success doesn't...
After ten years of struggles and survival, the Iraqi based Thrash Metal band "Acrassicauda" finally realized its dream and published its first official EP in 2010. In every second you can hear the talent and the passion of the group and the best seems...
Here comes another female fronted Symphonic Metal band from Europe. What distinguishes this band from most of the other ones is the interesting connection to the topic of environment and nature and the underground flair of this first official album. Some...
This is the second part of my little review series: Movies that are way better than you expect. "Steel trap" seems at first sight to be another ordinary psychological thriller or slasher movie in the shadows of the great "The cube", "Mind Hunters" and...
"The silent force" would have been a better name for the previous and very spiritual folk album "Mother Earth" as this album here presents a completely new face of Within Temptation. Sure, there are still a few soft ballads like the inspiring "Memories"...
Three years after the last album, the Russian heavy metal legends have nothing added to their formula. They play traditional heavy metal with a few fast rockers, some epic songs and a few semi-acoustic ballads. This is surely nothing innovating but something...
The debut album of "Mortemia" is a quite epic and spiritual album conceived by Morten Veland from "Tristania" and "Sirenia". Even if there are some harsh vocals in every song, they are not overwhelming and the sound focuses on majestic keyboard sounds...
