Suay Laak Sai / Sick Nurses (2007)

This horror movie from Thailand seems to be a quite ordinary one in the beginning as we have a look on the very generic plot. An evil manipulator and doctor and his libertine nurses illegally sell dead bodies. As one of the nurses that honestly loves the doctor finds out that he is unfaithful to her and sleeps with her own sister and pretty much all of the nurses, she awakens from her dreams and menaces the entire team to tell about their criminal actions. Instead of sacrificing himself and marrying the young woman, the doctor orders to get her out of their way and the team kills her in a terrible act of violence. One week later, the ghost of the dead nurse comes back to haunt the hospital and seeks for revenge. While the doctor is at a ceremony to get a price for his outstanding works and tries to sell another dead body, the nurses fight for their lives within the walls of the hospital.

What makes the charm of the movie isn't the acting or the atmosphere but rather the very beautiful actresses and the different acts of vengeance. But as the movie risks to lose this charm after a while, there are a few interesting elements that come into play such as flashbacks from the past that tell us more about the different characters that all seem to be quite alike in the beginning which eventually isn't the case. What really rates up this standard horror movie is its interesting twist in the end that is very hard to see coming. The last scenes of the movie are hectic, dramatical and very emotional and will keep you on the edge of your seats.

In the end, this movie is more interesting as it seems in the beginning. It's no masterpiece but a well done horror movie with a couple of good ideas and a lot of beautiful women and a good choice for an entertaining movie night with some friends. As this movie comes from Thailand it also gets a little exotic bonus and is a nice addition to the collection of fans of Asian cinema.
