It includes a series of dreadful accusations, overwhelming media attention and debatable police investigation. Another week - another playlist! German punk veterans Die toten Hosen have been admired by fans of different generations since its inception back in 1982. Düsseldorf's finest convinces with intelligent lyrics as well as humorous takes and plays anything from angry punk rock tunes over arena rock anthems to heartfelt power ballads. This charismatic quintet was my favourite band when I was eleven to thirteen years old. Therefore, I connect plenty of joyful childhood memories to this group. I even remember a presentation of the group that I did in my high school music class with my best friend that earned us a top grade while having fun working on the project. The fact that I still listen to this band regularly today underlines its stunning longevity for almost forty years and the legacy this group will one day leave behind. While some overambitious fans and certain biased experts already talk about their favourite team winning the Stanley Cup only ten games into the 2020-2021 NHL season, the Ottawa Senators and their fans keep their feet on the ground, remain resilient and stick to their team through thick and thin. Despite some considerable hardship such as nine losses in a row, this patient, realistic and respectful attitude has finally paid off last night with a hard-fought victory. German rookie Tim Stützle got one goal and two assists in an unexpected but well-deserved victory. Great job and keep it going!

I decided to take a brief break from my podcasts in December and January but they are now back and stronger than ever! This fifth episode of my new true crime podcast series is about one of the most gruesome murders in the recent history of Germany. This is the sad tale of Tristan Brübach, an innocent teenager whose mother had died as she had suffered from cancer and depression and whose father had developed serious alcohol problems. The lonesome child apparently befriended an adult in a park near a train station but what seemed to be a chance acquaintance turned out to be a fatal encounter since the innocent child was brutally killed in a busy city on a busy afternoon. Despite the unusual modus operandi of the criminal, the fact that several eyewitnesses had seen the victim just minutes before his demise and the fact that numerous cameras had been installed in the busy city, the murderer is still at large almost twenty-three years later.
