Molodost - Shades at Salvation Borders

This more than strange Ambient Black Metal project from Lebanon is almost so bad that it hurts.

The production quality is extremely bad and this can’t even be excused by some underground attitude as the music is simply not atmospheric and harsh enough to fit to this scene.

The songs are filled with bad ambient passages that fail to create an atmosphere because they sound very artificial as if they were made by the cheapest keyboards or programming systems. These passages are aimless and overlong and lead to sudden fast passages that also come out of nowhere. The drums are only fast and played without emotions or coherent rhythms. The other instruments are absolutely faceless and not even worth to be mentioned.

The worst thing above all is though the noisy vocal performance that sounds like a hoarse raven inside a coffin. This doesn’t sound evil or atmospheric but only ridiculous and very unprofessional as is often the case for one man projects of that genre. Forget it – you simply won’t be able to distinguish any lyrics or even the language this whole stuff is sung in. The man behind the project says the songs are about nature, nostalgia, illness and misanthropy but for me, it’s only about a hoarse raven flying through a wasteland. From a positive point of view, this silly copy of BURZUM that sounds worse than the legendary rubbish made by ZARACH BAAL THARAGH at least creates a few slapstick images on my mind and that’s why I still gave half a point to this uneasy disaster-piece that you should avoid at all costs.
