The most significant difference is that the highway is well-maintained in British Columbia and gets progressively rougher in the Northwest Territories. The surrounding landscapes are particularly beautiful here.il y a 4 joursLiard Valley General Store convinces with a decent offer of diverse products in this remote location. It would be amazing if the store could add some simple fresh meals such as sandwiches for customers. Prices are steeper than elsewhere but justified by the isolated placement.il y a 4 joursHay Lake Campground is a small but very idyllic spot for roughly a dozen vehicles. The nearby lake and small buildings look very decent. The nearby hiking trail however needs some serious maintenance. There are many mosquitoes in the summer, so make sure to bring some bug spray if you plan on staying here.il y a 4 joursBlackstone Territorial Park is one of the most amazing parks in the Northwest Territories. It's situated right next to Liard River. You have beautiful forests, stunning meadows and little swamps nearby. There are numerous essential facilities such as restrooms and parking lots but also little highlights such as a playground. This is an ideal location to visit for small families in the summer.il y a 4 joursFort Simpson Territorial Park is essentially a small but decent campground. There are several beaches, monuments and parks nearby. Facilities are simplistic but efficient. It's a great place to go to for families who like to spend time in an isolated natural environment but still want to have essential services nearby.il y a 4 joursEhdaa Historical Site honours First Nations People in and around Fort Simpson. This location offers a few monuments. It's also a gathering spot for occasional festivals. The surrounding landscapes where MacKenzie River and Liard River separate are breathtaking.il y a 4 joursThe Rock Monument in Fort Simpson tells us more about the history of First Nations People in this area. The surrounding landscapes are beautiful, inspiring and peaceful. This monument could need a little bit more maintenance to honour its significant purpose.il y a 4 joursPapal Grounds is a beautiful little monument honouring Pope John Paul II and First Nations People. It's certainly worth a detour when you come to Fort Simpson.il y a 4 joursThe Flats in Fort Simpson can be found where MacKenzie River and Liard River separate. It's a nice spot for a hike and there is even a beach section. In the summer time, you could carefully go swimming here or even play beach volleyball.il y a 4 joursPublic Dock and RV Area is a wonderful location to go boating and even flying in Fort Simpson. This location is only five minutes away from downtown and access is for free. The views of the nearby river are breathtaking.il y a 4 joursNorthern Gas offers essential gasoline for steep prices in this isolated area. The little shop only offers a few simple drinks and snacks for the road. Customer service is helpful and polite.il y a 4 joursThis location is actually a stop to take a small ferry across Liard River to get to Fort Simpson. It takes about ten minutes to cross the river and there is enough space for roughly a dozen vehicles on the ferry. Fort Simpson is about fifteen minutes away from the western side of the river. The landscapes are very beautiful, so make sure to get out of your car and take some stunning photographs.il y a 4 joursCorall Falls are a part of Sambaa Deh Falls Territorial Park. Hiking to these falls and back again should take roughly forty-five minutes. The views and the isolation in the wilderness are certainly worth the detour.il y a 4 joursSambaa Deh Falls are absolutely stunning. You can view them from all directions. Plan at least half an hour to explore these falls to the fullest. Be careful not to get too close because the ground can be slippery.il y a 4 joursSambaa Deh Falls Territorial Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the Northwest Territories. You can find a river, a canyon and different waterfalls here. This location is isolated and peaceful but the most important resources such as restroom facilities and parking lots are available. Plan for about one hour and a half to two hours to appreciate this wonderful park to its fullest.il y a 4 joursTibbitt Lake Loop actually doesn't exist. This is simply the end of Ingraham Trail. There are a few rough hiking trails but nothing like a longer section. This is essentially a spot for boating and fishing as well as simply enjoying the beauty of nature. An ice road continues here in the winter.il y a 4 joursThe End of Ingraham Trail is situated on the southern shore of Tibbitt Lake. You can go boating, fishing and swimming here. There are a few little trails that are however not maintained and rather rough. There is enough space for numerous cars if you have made it all the way to this point. In the winter, there is an ice road leading further north. It would be amazing to see Ingraham Trail getting extended one day.il y a 4 joursReid Lake Territorial Park is an interesting stop along Ingraham Trail where you can go camping. This location is particularly interesting for families with young children. There are numerous lakes nearby and you can even find a beach and a playground. Facilities are very decent for such a remote location as well.il y a 4 joursCameron River Crossing Territorial Park offers numerous parking lots, restroom facilities and a beautiful trail along falls, a lake and a river. Plan for about forty-five minutes to one hour to see everything this location has to offer. This is one of the most beautiful spots along Ingraham Trail.il y a 4 joursCameron River Rampart Falls are certainly worth a detour. These falls look impressive and you can get quite close and take numerous outstanding photographs. The falls are about fifteen minutes away from the nearest territorial park and its parking lots.il y a 4 joursCameron Falls look absolutely outstanding and are definitely worth a detour. Take your time to let the beauty of nature sink in. You can take amazing photographs from numerous different angles. The closest territorial park with parking lots is about half an hour away from here.il y a 4 joursHidden Lake Territorial Park offers a wonderful trail to Cameron Falls that are roughly half an hour away. In order to let the beauty of nature sink in, plan for at least one hour and a half here.il y a 4 joursPrelude Lake Scenic Viewpoint is a wonderful stop along Ingraham Trail. The views you can admire here are absolutely magnificent. They are worth a detour, stop and several photographs. There is enough space for perhaps three cars at this little viewpoint.il y a 4 joursPowder Point Territorial Park Day Use Area is a little stop along Ingraham Trail. You can find restroom facilities, parking spots and a dock for a little boating trip. The natural landscapes are very beautiful here. Sadly, there are no hiking trails in this particular area.il y a 4 joursPrelude Lake Territorial Park is one of the most interesting sections along Ingraham Trail. You can go on a boating trip, go camping and find several wonderful hiking trails. The one in the western section of the park is a wonderful roundtrip that takes roughly one hour to complete and is highly recommended.il y a 4 joursPontoon Lake Territorial Park is one of the more interesting parks on Ingraham Trail. You can walk through the vegetation and discover some wonderful views of the surrounding landscapes. Even though the road is nearby, you will quickly become one with nature.il y a 4 joursMadeline Lake Day Use Area is a beautiful little spot that offers wonderful views of the surrounding landscapes. There are a few parking spots and a dock for a little boating trip. This location can serve as a lookout for northern lights in the winter.il y a 4 joursProsperous Lake Territorial Park Day Use Area is a small location with a few parking spots and a dock to start a little boating trip. There are no trails or other attractions. This location might however serve as a nice lookout for northern lights in the winter.il y a 4 joursT'è?hadà Dettah Monument is a beautiful little artwork in First Nations Community Dettah. This community is about fifteen minutes away from Ingraham Trail and half an hour from downtown Yellowknife. An ice road connects Dettah and Yellowknife in the winter.il y a 4 joursYellowknife River Territorial Park Day Use Area is the first interesting stop on Ingraham Trail. There are numerous parking spots, restroom facilities and a few trails through the vegetation. This is also a good spot if you want to go fishing. If you don't, it won't take longer than fifteen minutes to explore this location.il y a 4 joursYellowknife River Bridge itself isn't beautiful at all. The views of the surrounding landscapes are however quite spectacular. This is also a great spot for fishing in the summer. You can find a reasonable number of parking spots nearby.il y a 4 joursIngraham Trail Signpost has become a popular spot for visitors to take a few pictures. Except for the beautiful sign, there isn't anything worth seeing nearby. There are much more beautiful sections on Ingraham Trail.il y a 4 joursRanney Lake Trailhead is an interesting roundtrip that takes roughly one hour to complete. There are swampy sections in the lower parts and rocky sections in the higher parts. The views are quite spectacular. Be aware that you might be all alone in the wilderness, so make sure to carefully watch out for wild animals.il y a 4 joursVee Lake Boat Launch is a nice spot to start a boating trip. There is much room for parking. You can't find any facilities or stores here since you are on your own in the wilderness.il y a 4 joursJackfish Lake Scenic Viewpoint is an extremely small spot. Only about two vehicles can park here at the same time. However, the view is certainly worth a detour. Make sure to take some photographs of the natural beauty.il y a 4 joursWatt Drive Park is essentially an improvised small parking lot with a small dock. You can either start a boating trip here, observe the beauty of nature or even go swimming in the summer. This hidden location is much appreciated by locals in particular.il y a 4 joursOtto Drive Park offers wonderful views of Great Slave Lake. You can sit down here and observe the beauty of nature. This is also a decent spot to start a boating trip. Adventurous folks might even want to go swimming here in the summer.il y a 4 joursTD Bank Cabin is a beautiful rustic building in the eastern part of Yellowknife. The plaque tells you a little bit more about this building's interesting history. Make sure to take a photograph of its beautiful northern architecture.il y a 4 joursLatham Island Park is a decently sized park for children and young teenagers. The playground might be the most beautiful in the entire Northwest Territories. It's a wonderful spot to go to for families with children.il y a 4 joursOrser Park is a beautiful spot along the Narrows in eastern Yellowknife. This is a great spot for a hike in the summer. The surrounding landscapes are truly beautiful.il y a 4 joursYellowknife Waterdrome offers some beautiful views of the nearby lakes and narrows. My best suggestion would be to go to one of the nearby cafes or restaurants to let the beauty of your surroundings sink in.il y a 4 joursOld Town Yellowknife is a beautiful section in eastern Yellowknife that is best explored on foot in the summertime. You can find docks, galleries and even a few restaurants around here. The views of the nearby lakes are beautiful and deserve some photographs.il y a 4 joursMcAvoy Rock is a large rock section in the eastern part of Yellowknife with several colourful drawings on it. It's worth taking a break here in order to let this beautiful combination of nature and art sink in. This location is certainly worth a few photographs.il y a 4 joursThe choices and quality of the food available at Trader's Grill are exceptional. Service can be slow on a busy day but staff is always helpful. Prices are decent for the quality you get here. I would go as far as calling Trader's Grill the best restaurant I have been to in the Northwest Territories.il y a 4 joursThe Explorer Hotel is the place to stay at in Yellowknife. The rooms are big and cozy. Staff is helpful and polite. The restaurant is exceptional, especially its breakfasts. Parking spots are convenient but situated on a rather steep section next to the hotel. Prices are quite elevated but that's to be expected so far up north.il y a 4 joursIt's great to have a Boston Pizza restaurant this far up north in Yellowknife. This location is clean and cozy. Drinks and foods are great as usual. Service can at times be a little bit smooth and slow, so make sure to dine in when you aren't in a hurry.il y a 4 joursThe Black Knight Pub convinces with a great selection of beers and spirits. The food is also very decent but some items on the menu are occasionally missing. Staff is helpful and polite but service can sometimes be a little bit slow.il y a 4 joursTerritorial Park Fred Henne is situated on the western side of Yellowknife. There are several picnic spots. You can also find some restroom facilities here. It's possible to go boating on or swimming in nearby Long Lake in the summer. The natural landscapes are beautiful but the nearby highway takes away from this idyll. Some of the local facilities such as the quays would certainly benefit from some renovations.il y a 4 joursBay Island Playground is a small but beautiful spot on the eastern shore of Marian Lake in the community of Behchokǫ̀. You have a beautiful view of the nearby lake. However, the facilities could benefit from some renovations to attract more visitors in the summer.il y a 4 joursBehchokǫ̀ Junction is literally just a junction on MacKenzie Highway. The hamlet of Edzo is only five minutes from here. The community of Behchokǫ̀ is about ten minutes away from here. It takes roughly another forty-five minutes to get all the way to the outskirts of Yellowknife.il y a 4 joursFrank Channel Bridge is an old but stable bridge situated along MacKenzie Highway next to the hamlet of Edzo and the community of Behchokǫ̀. This bridge has its very own charme but would certainly benefit from some renovations as its appearance has taken a turn for the worse.il y a 4 joursNorth Arm Territorial Park is essentially a parking spot on MacKenzie Highway between Fort Providence and Yellowknife on the northern shore of Great Slave Lake. The landscapes here are really beautiful and you might even try to go fishing or swimming here in the summer. There are a few restroom facilities and picnic tables around as well.il y a 4 joursChan Lake Territorial Park is essentially a parking spot along MacKenzie Highway between Fort Providence and Yellowknife. It's enjoyable to take a short break here to use some restrooms or have a picnic. The natural landscapes also deserve some attention and photographs.il y a un moisQueen Elizabeth Territorial Park is a beautiful and well-maintained campground in the middle of nature that is only five minutes away from Fort Smith. There is a plaque honouring the visit of Queen Elizabeth II, may she rest in peace. There is a little trail to a splendid viewpoint of Slave River where you can sit on a chair and relax.il y a un moisCommunity Arbour is a wonderful traditional gathering spot in Fort Providence. It's an ideal location for small communal activities such as festivals.il y a un moisOur Lady of Providence is a beautiful little church in white and light blue colours. This location also offers wonderful views of MacKenzie River and its numerous small islands. There is a small hiking trail and a road right next to this easily accessible church.il y a un moisSnowshoe Inn Cafe and Craft Shop is a quite interesting location. You can buy some local crafts on the left side of the building. There is a small restaurant offering simple fast food for reasonable prices on the right side of the building. Customer service is polite and quick. You should certainly stop here when visiting Fort Providence.il y a un moisFort Providence Territorial Park is essentially just a local campground. There are no beautiful hiking trails or anything noteworthy to visit. Anyone else than camping enthusiasts can avoid this location.il y a un moisBig River Service Centre is a gas station, a convenience store and a restaurant. Staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are slightly steep but still reasonable for such an isolated location. The fresh food offered here is simple but tasty. Anybody visiting this area for the first time should certainly stop here.il y a un moisDeh Cho Bridge is a stunning piece of architecture in the middle of nature. Make sure to drive slowly and surely on it. Don't hesitate to stop on the southern and on the northern side of the bridge to take some stunning photographs.il y a un moisDory Point Territorial Park is a tiny park on MacKenzie River. It's situated only two minutes away from MacKenzie Highway. The access road is a little bit rough, so make sure to drive carefully. There is a small parking lot, some restrooms and a little shack. You can walk right next to the river and take some beautiful photographs. It's also an ideal location to observe sunrises and sunsets.il y a un moisThis fishing spot in Kakisa is roughly twenty minutes away from MacKenzie Highway. It's a beautiful, natural and relaxing spot appreciated by locals and visitors alike. Take your time for a little stroll and don't forget to take some breathtaking photographs.il y a un moisLady Evelyn Falls Territorial Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Northwest Territories. You can find numerous amenities such as an information centre, restrooms and shacks. There are several trails leading you to Kakisa River and Lady Evelyn Falls. The views are breathtaking and certainly worth some photographs. Plan at least two hours for visiting this wonderful park.il y a un moisKakiska River Territorial Park is worth a detour when visiting Northwest Territories for the first time. You can walk along Kakisa River for quite some time and take some outstanding photographs. Make sure to avoid slippery spots and don't go too far into the woods to avoid meeting wildlife on your own.il y a un moisMcNallie Creek Territorial Park Day Use Area is a little park that takes roughly fifteen minutes to visit. The most beautiful element of this park are the falls and their surrounding nature. You can also find a little boardwalk and a few benches. The park is conveniently situated right next to MacKenzie Highway.il y a un moisSaint Joseph Roman Catholic Church is one of the most beautiful buildings in Fort Smith. Take your time for a little stop, go on a short stroll and don't forget to take some photographs as well.il y a un moisSlave River Rapids National Historic Site of Canada is situated in downtown Fort Smith. It offers some information about this location. It's a nice little spot to stop by when visiting Fort Smith for the first time.il y a un moisFort Smith Mission Territorial Park is a wonderful location right in downtown Fort Smith. It includes the magnificent Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church. This spot is certainly worth a detour and a relaxed stroll.il y a un moisThis beautiful Welcome to Fort Smith Sign is quite rewarding after a long and rough road trip through the beauty of wilderness.il y a un moisCustomer service and opening hours of this isolated Petro Canada in Fort Smith are very decent. In addition to gas, you can get some decent drinks and foods and you have access to restrooms. Prices are obviously quite steep due to its location.il y a un moisLittle Buffalo River Falls Territorial Park is a wonderful location you must discover when visiting Northwest Territories. There are stunning views of the falls and the river throughout the park. There are a few decent hiking trails as well. You can find a few shacks here where you can relax. Otherwise, amenities are quite limited in the wilderness, so make sure to bring your own drinks and foods.il y a un moisThe area in and around Fort Resolution is quite isolated. It offers wonderful views of nature. However, don't expect to find any hotels or restaurants here. If you plan on visiting Fort Resolution, make sure to stay in Hay River which is roughly ninety minutes to two hours away from here.il y a un moisLittle Buffalo River Crossing Territorial Park is a wonderful hidden gem. It's conveniently situated right next to the highway. Due to its isolated location, you can still enjoy the beauty of nature to its fullest here. There are some basic amenities such as restrooms in the park. There are several benches and little shacks where you can relax. The views of the river are very beautiful. It's a great spot to go fishing. You can also organize a little barbecue or picnic. The location is a great spot to visit in the summer.il y a un moisBig Buffalo River is one of several small parks along Fort Smith Highway. It's worth a short detour. Its isolated location helps you enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of nature to the fullest. Amenities are very simple out here in the wilderness.il y a un moisPine Point Bridge on Fort Smith Highway is certainly worth a stop and a detour. The views of the new bridge and the dismantled old bridge in the north are quite impressive. Make sure to take a few photographs here while visiting Northwest Territories' Eastern regions.il y a un moisHay River Public Beach is a nice spot to relax and observe the beauty of nature. The two only downsides are the nearby industrial area that doesn't blend in at all and the recent flooding and its ensuing constructions.il y a un moisHay River Territorial Park has recently been suffering from important flooding. This is why there is currently a lot of construction going on. The location itself is decent with many parking spots and access to a big beach with a boardwalk and a playground.il y a un moisThe Shell gas station in Hay River is conveniently situated right next to the highway. Customer service is polite. Prices are quite steep. The location is decently maintained but could be a little bit cleaner.il y a un moisDoghouse Pub offers a decent selection of local and national beers. The food menu could offer some more variety. Customer service is a little bit slow but friendly and helpful. Prices are very decent. Opening hours are reasonable as well. The location is close to the town's most important hotels. There are many parking spots nearby.il y a un moisBob McMeekin Chamber Park is situated at the entrance of Hay River and offers stunning views of the river and its surrounding forests, hills and meadows. There is a decent parking lot and a bench where you can sit on and relax. The only element that is missing are some basic amenities.il y a un moisParadise Garden & Campground is a beautiful, peaceful and small community that offers amazing views of Hay River and its surrounding forests, hills and meadows.il y a un moisThere really isn't much to see at the Junction of Highways One and Two in Northwest Territories. Enterprise almost looks abandoned as several gas stations, hotels and restaurants have closed in the recent past. There are no viewpoints of the nearby Hay River either. You should simply continue your ride up north or down south to discover more beautiful locations.il y a un moisTwin Falls Creek is located in the southern part of Northwest Territories and offers outstanding views of Hay River and its surrounding forests and hills. Make sure to plan for several stops along the way to enjoy the beauty of nature to the fullest.il y a un moisLouise Falls Campground offers access to different well-maintained hiking trails. Louise Falls are about ten minutes away and offer an absolutely stunning sight. This is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Northwest Territories, so make sure to plan for a prolonged stop.il y a un moisAlexandra Falls Day Use Area is only about five minutes away from the nearby parking lot and MacKenzie Highway. There are several trails and a few benches that offer fascinating views of Alexandra Falls. Alexandra Falls look absolutely stunning. There are many different trails offering quite fascinating views of the surroundings. Access to these trails is easy, free and quick. This location will certainly leave a lasting impression upon you.il y a un moisThe Sixtieth Parallel Territorial Park and Visitor's Centre is a mandatory stop when first visiting Northwest Territories. The park is small but well-maintained. The visitor's centre is quite beautiful and takes about ten minutes to visit.
